The Galesburg Boots and Saddle Club raised more than $2,000 for the Neurofibromatosis Network during its Hoof N It for NF event July 29 at Sandy Oaks Campground, Keithsburg.

About 50 riders took to the trails in the first Illinois ride to raise money to fight neurofibromatosis, a disorder that affects the brain, spinal cord, nerves and skin. Tumors grow along the body’s nerves or under the skin. NF affects about 4,000 births and all ages, races and both sexes.

Kim (Bischoff) Swe, national director for the Neurofibromatosis Network attended the weekend event. The fundraiser included an auction, music and dinner served by the Galesburg Boxing Club. The money raised will go toward research, education and awareness efforts.
