Quack for a Cure: The Third Annual Ducky Dash Brings Fun, Community, and Purpose to Wheaton

The Ducky Dash is back—and bigger, brighter, and more joyful than ever. Now in its third year, this one-of-a-kind event invites participants to lace up their running shoes, embrace a little silliness, and rally around a meaningful cause: supporting individuals and families affected by neurofibromatosis (NF).

Set against the scenic backdrop of Herrick Lake in Wheaton, the Ducky Dash offers a 5K course that loops around the lake, along with a fun run/walk option for those who prefer a more relaxed pace. On Saturday, May 16, 2026, participants will gather beginning at 8:00 AM for check-in, with the race kicking off at 9:00 AM. Whether running, walking, or cheering from the sidelines, every attendee plays a role in making the day special.

More than just a race, Ducky Dash is a celebration of community, creativity, and connection. Participants are encouraged to lean into the event’s playful spirit by dressing in their best duck-themed attire—think inflatable ducks, bright yellow tutus, snorkels, pajamas, and more. The day continues with an awards ceremony, family-friendly ducky games, and prizes for standout costumes and silent auction winners.

At its heart, the event supports the mission of the NF Network, which is dedicated to raising awareness and providing resources for those impacted by neurofibromatosis—a genetic condition that affects approximately one in every 2,500 births. Despite being one of the most common rare disorders, NF remains widely underrecognized, making events like Ducky Dash all the more important.

As the NF community and supporters gather once again to “quack for a cure,” the third annual Ducky Dash promises not only a memorable morning of fun and laughter, but also a powerful reminder of what can be achieved when people come together for a shared purpose.
