This summer, the NF Center will be launching a new therapy program for young adults with NF1. THRIVE NF is a life skills program aimed at young adults with NF1 (ages 18-30) who have a desire to one day live on their own. Over the course of 5 weeks, participants will work with occupational and physical therapists on valuable skills such as cooking, cleaning, financial management, grocery shopping, socialization, and career/college exploration. One unique feature of the program is that each skill will be learned in the real environment. For example, participants will cook in an Airbnb kitchen and grocery shop in a Schnucks grocery store. We are excited to see what THRIVE NF can bring to our patient population.
